 DevelopmentBy acting in support of development assistance policies that address economic aspects, social change, the environment and democratic operation of institutions, FEI works towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) defined by the United Nations and supports the fight against poverty. FEI takes a long-term view aimed at creating the right conditions for sustainable development and the creation of public goods by having the beneficiaries take ownership of the shared know-how. - Institutional strengthening of central administrations, health agencies and the hospital system - Support for national health policy development, particularly in the fight against major pandemics and emerging diseases - Capacity-building for development of multi-sector strategic frameworks and operational plans
- Institutional modernisation and strengthening for the education administration and structures (Ministry, administrations, training institutes, etc.) - Support for vocational training and apprenticeships
- Child protection and adoption - Support programme for solidarity initiatives for development

- Support for the development and implementation of agricultural strategies and sector policies - Support for national and regional agricultural policies - Capacity-building for institutions for the prevention of food emergencies - Improvement of farming systems and establishment of collective facility management systems
- Strengthening environmental protection institutions - Support for development banks on environmental and climate issues - Support for sustainable management of forests and natural resources - Definition of measures to conserve the natural habitat and biodiversity
- Water resource management planning - Working out plans for watershed development and protection and for planning water supply infrastructures - Assessment and supervision of drinking water supply projects in rural and semi-urban areas - Development of strategic sanitation plans - Capacity-building for authorities in charge of implementing public policies - Institutional development for the rural drinking water supply sector
